Description:

A circular stone fountain. The outer circular stone wall encloses a shallow basin, at the centre of which is a further stone wall surrounding a raised platform on which is an ornate circular fountain. The fountain has a central nozzle discharging a vertical plume of water which cascades over the various ledges formed in the style of spread leaves and decorated externally with flowers and foliage in relief. Adjacent display panels give a brief history of the fountain and adjacent park furniture supports the peace theme.

History
1913: The fountain was originally constructed in Eastwood Park as a donation from Alderman Markham.

1980s: The fountain was removed from Eastwood Park and re-erected in New Square in the centre of Chesterfield where it was designated the "Peace Fountain" by the council.

2000: The fountain was returned to Eastwood Park where it remains a Peace Fountain..

23rd February, 2016: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition.
