Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.

Description:

A monument comprising a squat obelisk on a pedestal surmounting a three-stepped base. The cast concrete obelisk bears, on its 6 o'clock face, an oblong bronze plaque with a narrow raised border and an inscription in raised upright capital block lettering. The battered pedestal is also of cast concrete and has a bevelled top. The three-stepped base is formed from a number of cast concrete units similar in style to stone ashlar.

History
1957: The memorial was unveiled.

9th October, 2013: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition and cared for.

Comments
At the time of WW1 the area of the present Hollingwood estate was agricultural with only a few farms and cottages so the fallen from the area were included on the Barrow Hill and Staveley memorials.
