Description:

A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame and comprising five panels. A triangular pediment contained an image of bells in brown on a blue ground with text and musical notation superimposed. The main central panel contained an image of children dancing in celebration of the arrival of peace, while overhead a white dove flew over bunting with a spitfire aeroplane in the distance. The two smaller side panels bore vertical columns of text in gold over a green ground and the lower, horizontal, panel bore the dates in gold and two images of the Union Flag, all over a green ground. The well dressing was displayed from 4th to 11th July 2015 and was subsequently dismantled.

History

May - July 2015: The memorial was planned, designed and constructed by pupils of Hathersage Primary School, assisted by staff and parents.

4th-11th July 2015: The Memorial was displayed at the roadside.

12th July 2015: The memorial was dismantled and the components salvaged for future use.
