The site is National Trust access land between Earl Sterndale and Crowdecote. The stated location is for the pillar and plaque.

Overall condition: Good. The inscription is legible.


Description:

An area of grazing moorland on a prominent peak near the boundary between Derbyshire and Staffordshire. At the peak is an existing concreted rubble Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar with surveyors' plates on the top and the east face. A trapezoidal bronze plaque has been added to the east face with an incised inscription in upright capital roman lettering. An impression on the west face suggests that another plaque has previously been attached there but is now missing.
