Location details:
The tablet is set into the paved surface in front of the main memorial opposite the Guildhall.

Overall condition: Good. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.

Description:

A square recumbent tablet of Scoutmoor Yorkstone with a narrow circular incised border. The tablet has a depiction of the Victoria Cross incised at the head and the inscription below in upright incised capital roman lettering.

History and Conservation
2013: The stone was designed by Charlie MacKeith.

Unknown date: The stone was extracted from a quarry near Ramsbottom and worked for the Department for Communities and Local Government who supplied it to Derby City Council

12th March 2015: The memorial was unveiled by the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire, Mr William Tucker, and the Mayor of Derby, Cllr Shiraz Khan, at a stone laying ceremony. They were supported by Lt Col Nick Turner of the Mercian Regiment, relatives of Pte Rivers and veterans The ceremony was attended by members of the public. The fixing was finalised by Derby City Council staff. The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson.
