Description:
An addition to the wording on a family gravestone. The low limestone headstone is in the style of a scroll unfurled over a decorative wall. The headstone originally surmounted an oblong base with bevelled top but has now become detached and leans against it. The inscription is inlaid on the face of the scroll and on the base of the wall, but much of it is missing and most of the remainder is damaged. The headstone is accompanied by oblong kerbs.

Comments
|
Although most of the lettering was missing the outline of some of the inscription could clearly be discerned. It clearly states "W. A."Grainger and aged "33". CWGC records give the name as "William Henry Grainger" and the age at death as "32".
