Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible.


Additional lettering to the inscription on a headstone on a family grave. The tall sandstone headstone has a rounded arch top and stepped shoulders with a moulded and chamferred border, recessed sides with attached colonettes, clasped hands in relief in a crescent-shaped panel at the head, and an inlaid inscription mainly in upright capital block lettering. The headstone surmounts an oblong sandstone base with bevelled top.

History

17th April, 1951: The memorial lies within the Peak District National Park designated on that date.

2nd September, 1981: The memorial lies within the Tideswell Conservation Area first designated on that date.

27th April, 2017: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition, although the grave was covered by ivy which was starting to spread onto the headstone, and the memorial was difficult to access because of the foliage from the nearby bush.
