The grave is near the middle of the cemetery.
Type
Overall type: Addition to gravestone. Overall condition: Fair. The memorial is in good structural condition but the face is speckled with algae making the inscription difficult to read.


Description:

An oblong recumbent limestone tablet added to a CWGC grave. The grave features the CWGC headstone for Capt G Blackburn and oblong limestone kerbs at the head and both sides. At the foot the kerbs are terminated with ogee mouldings and the recumbent tablet is placed between them. It bears an incised inscription in upright capital roman lettering coloured black.

History and Conservation
October, 1957: The tablet was dedicated.

12th March, 2020: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition although difficult to read.

Comments
Capt G Blackburn is buried here so this is not a war memorial to him, it is his war grave, recognised as such by the CWGC. Members of No 9 Training Battn are not buried here therefore this is a war memorial to them.
