Location details:
The grave is a little less than half way from the northern end and towards the western boundary of the cemetery.
Type
Overall type: Vase. Overall condition: Fair: the base of the vase is chipped but the slate panel is intact and the inscription is legible.


Description:

A concrete vase with an inlaid slate panel on one face. The squat vase is square in plan and is in the form of a truncated obelisk with a circular hole in the top containing a lipped metal vessel for flowers. The trapezoidal slate panel bears the inscription inlaid in upright capital lettering.
The vase is on the surface of a grave and accompanies the CWGC headstone to Cpl Powell.

History and Conservation
12th March, 2020: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition with chips on the base but the inscription was legible.

Comments
Cpl Powel is buried here so it is his war grave, recognised as such by the CWGC. The headstone is therefore not a war memorial to him, but the vase is capable of being moved from the grave therefore it is a war memorial to him.
