Description:
A temporary Derbyshire well dressing display traditionally made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame but now often utilising stones, beads, fabric etc. The dressing comprised a horizontal oblong panel with a recessed central section but the image extended over the side borders. The scene depicted an aerial view of the white cliffs of Dover with a low level WW1 biplane over a patchwork of fields in the foreground, a WW2 Spitfire in low-level camouflage at a slightly higher altitude and a Cold War Avro Vulcan in nuclear anti-flash livery over the English Channel. The top and bottom borders contained the inscription in white upper case capital block lettering on a black ground, with RAF roundels at the bottom.
