Description:
A cast iron ornamental lamp column. The column has a wide fluted base, a slender fluted shaft and triple lamps at the head supported by ornamental scroll brackets. Two traffic direction signs have been attached to the column below the lamps, presumably at a later date. The metalwork is painted black with the fluting picked out in gold. The column surmounts a circular sandstone pedestal with a squared platform to support the column and bearing a plaque on the face in the shape of a shield. The inscription on the plaque is in raised upright capital lettering picked out in white against a black ground. The front of the structure is enclosed by a metal railing, also painted black.
