Description:

A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame comprising an arch with a recessed panel at the centre. The lettering on the arch was in dark green upright capital italic lettering against a pale blue ground and the finial bore a depiction of Winston Churchill giving his "V for Victory" salute in dark silhouette.. The central panel was an upright oblong with rounded arch top and bore a pictorial scene of a returning soldier embracing his wife with bunting flying overhead and had further text in dark green sentence case italic lettering on a grey ground. The two side panels bore depictions of wartime posters with encouraging slogans aimed at the Home Front.

Spring 2015: The memorial was planned, designed and constructed by members of the local community.

14th May 2015: The well dressing was blessed by the local clergy.

14th May 2015: The well dressing was displayed from 14th to 20th May 2015

21st May 2015: The memorial was dismantled and the components salvaged for future use.
