Description:
A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame. It comprised a recessed central oblong panel with two side panels, three base panels and a pediment. The main depiction was of a multi-coloured landscape with three crosses at the centre and the sun's rays radiating over the upper part of the whole dressing while an arc of war graves of different denominations spread over the lower half. The pediment bore a dove of peace on a wreath of red poppies at the head, bound victors' wreaths to each side, each with a coloured design at the centre, and the date. The left panel bore a badge of a WW2 American bomber unit, a WW1 biplane, and a Star of David, while the right panel bore a depiction of a church tower and a red cross, and the base had eastern and western hemispheres of the world at the corners. The biblical inscription was in blue sentence-case lettering on brown curved bands at the head of the central panel. The well dressing was displayed from 23rd to 28th June 2018 and was subsequently dismantled.
