Description:
A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame.
The dressing comprised a central recessed oblong panel depicting the multicoloured biblical scene of the Good Samaritan surrounded by a border containing inscriptions at the head and foot, with cartouches of red poppies to each side. The pediment contained a border of further poppy cartouches with an inscription and geometrical design at the centre. The main side panels also bore the repeated geometrical design, as did the bottom panel, which bore a further inscription. Al inscriptions were in blue decorative sentence case lettering and the background to the whole dressing was in white and pale blue. The well dressing was displayed from 30th June to 9th July 2018 and was subsequently dismantled.
