Description:
A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame. The dressing comprised a central recessed main panel flanked by side panels supporting an arch. The main biblical theme was supplemented by nursery rhymes and the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
The central panel featured a depiction of Moses in the bulrushes with figures in red, blue and green. The arch had a purple heading in upright capital lettering on a white ground and the two side panels each contained illustrations of various nursery rhymes in natural colours. The finial had a blue cross at the head and contained a roundel depicting a map of southern England coloured as a Union Flag and with a cluster of red dots representing the invasion armada crossing the English Channel, with lettering in pale blue against the dark blue of the sea.
