Location details:
The church is on the east side of Mapleton Rd near the junction with Yerley Hill. The tablet is inside, on the east wall of the chancel, to the left of the window.
Mapleton Rd is also known as Ashbourne Rd. The village name is pronounced Mappleton and is so spelt on some modern maps but historically it was spelt Mapleton. No road names are given on Ordnance Survey maps and those used may not have been formally designated.

Overall type: Tablet Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.


Description:

An oblong tablet on a white backboard. The white marble tablet is flanked by fluted pilasters with moulded pendants below, is surmounted by a moulded cornice, and has a rounded margin at the foot. The whole is surmounted by a grey stone pediment bearing a coloured family coat of arms. The white backboard follows the outline of the tablet and pediment.

History and Conservation
Unknown date: The memorial was procured and installed.

13th September, 1967: The church was listed Grade II* Heritage List for England number 1335265.

February, 1981: The Mapleton Conservation Area was first designated. The church lies within it.

26th September, 2019: The memorial was recorded by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition and cared for although some colouring was lost from the inscription, resulting in some illegibility.
