25th August, 1919: The committee announced their recommendation for the statue by James Beresford & Sons, monumental masons of Belper, Derby and Carrara, at 500 guineas (£525 then). Subsequently Beresfords executed the Cornish Granite substructure, lettering, overall construction and supervision of carving the Carrara marble figures by Fedele Andreani & Fratelli of Via Castelfigaro, Carrara, Italy. The final cost was £710.

1st May, 1921: The memorial was unveiled by Mr Frederick C Arkwright JP, DL, of Willersley, and dedicated by Rev William Askwith, Vicar of Holy Trinity Church. The assembly was also addressed by Mr J W Boden, Chairman of the War Memorial Committee; Mr A W Witham, Chairman of the Urban District Council; Rev B Hughes Smith, Wesleyan minister; and Mr Charles F White, MP for West Derbyshire.
