Location details:
The church is on the east side of Mapleton Rd near the junction with Yerley Hill. The tablet is inside, on the south wall of the nave.
Mapleton Rd is also known as Ashbourne Rd. The village name is pronounced Mappleton and is so spelt on some modern maps but historically it was spelt Mapleton. No road names are given on Ordnance Survey maps and those used may not have been formally designated.

Overall type: Roll of honour Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.


Description:

A framed and glazed printed paper roll of honour with handwritten details. A king's crown is at the head and the main heading is in black sentence case gothic lettering with the remainder in upright capital roman lettering in red and black. The names are written in blue-black sentence case cursive lettering and arranged in three columns, four of the names being marked with a red asterisk, with a footnote Killed in Action. The roll has a thin ruled red border with a small red formy cross each corner. The frame is of moulded oak.

13th September, 1967: The church was listed Grade II* Heritage List for England number 1335265.

February, 1981: The Mapleton Conservation Area was first designated. The church lies within it.

20th November, 2009: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition and cared for.

26th September, 2019: The memorial was revisited by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It remained in fair condition and cared for.
