Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible.


Description:

Additional lettering on a headstone on a family grave. The upright grey limestone headstone is in the style of a scroll unfurled over a rough-hewn wall. To the right of the scroll is a carved passionflower in relief and the inscription is inlaid on the face of the scroll, mainly in upright capital block lettering. The headstone surmounts a plain oblong base with bevelled top and is accompanied by oblong stone kerbs. The maker's name is inlaid on the side of the headstone.

October 1980: The memorial lies within the Old Matlock Conservation Area first designated in that month.

16th March, 2009: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition.

12th October, 2016: The memorial was resurveyed by Roy Branson and Anne Branson. It was in fair condition.
