Overall type: Tablet. Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.


Description:

A plain oblong grey limestone tablet with stopped chamfered edges. The incised inscription is in different styles of upright mainly capital lettering previously coloured black but now mainly uncoloured.  The tablet is mounted on a mottled grey stone backboard with projecting shoulders.

BAPTISED IN THIS CHURCH AUG. 25. 1879. AND MARRIED JULY 25. 1882.
HE DIED AT LESSNESS PARK CAMP, WOOLWICH DEC. 10. 1915, AGED 59.
AND WAS BURIED AT EAST WICKHAM
ALSO OF LUNA LIZZIE, HIS WIFE,
YOUNGEST DAUGHTER OF WILLIAM AND MARY LOUISA TOMLINSON.
OF BRADLEY PASTURES
BAPTISED IN THIS CHURCH SEPT. 11. 1864, AND MARRIED JULY 25. 1882,
SHE DIED AT ASHBOURNE, AUG. 12. 1923, AGED 58,
AND WAS BURIED WITH HER PARENTS AT IDRIDGEHAY.
ALSO OF THEIR YOUNGER SON
VIVIAN BERKELEY HOWARD KNIGHT,
BAPTISED IN THIS CHURCH JUNE 24. 1886.
HE DIED APRIL 20 1917, AGED 30, AND WAS BURIED AT WANSTEAD, ESSEX.

History and Conservation
Unknown date c1920: The memorial was erected in the church.

13th September, 1967: The church was listed Grade II*, Heritage List for England number 1109352.

16th August, 2011: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in good condition and cared for.

3rd July, 2019: The memorial was rephotographed by Roy Branson. It was in good condition and cared for, although the rubricated initials had darkened and were barely distinguishable from black.
