Description:

A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame comrising an arch with a recessed panel at the centre. The lettering on the arch was in green upright capital italic lettering against a white ground and the finial contained a spray of red poppies. The central panel was an upright oblong with rounded arch top and bore the text in green sentence case italic lettering on a white ground. A green border bore clusters of red poppies. The two side panels each contained a depiction of an infantryman in battledress walking away from the viewer with rifle on the shoulder and in each foreground was a spray of red poppies.

History

Spring 2014: The memorial was planned, designed and constructed by members of the local community.

29th May 2014: The well dressing was blessed by the local clergy.

29th May 2014: The well dressing was displayed from 29 May to 4 June 2014

5th June 2014: The memorial was dismantled and the components salvaged for future use.
