Description:

A temporary Derbyshire well dressing display traditionally made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame, but today often incorporating pebbles, textile or other materials. The dressing comprised an upright oblong main panel with narrow side panels, a decorative pediment and a base panel.
The central panel depicted a composite scene with a line of infantrymen silhouetted in the foreground whilst in the background a close up image of a horse's head had the infantrymen reflected in the glint of its eye. At the centre of the pediment was a white dove of peace bearing an olive sprig within an open laurel wreath before four flags of the principal allies, all on a green ground with the dates in yellow figures. The side panels each contained a wavy blue ribbon with badges of the services and red poppies, all on a green ground. The base panel contained the inscription in white upright lettering against a green ground.
