Description:
A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame. The dressing comprised an upright oblong main panel recessed in an oblong frame and surmounted by a segmental pediment. The central panel depicted a soldier with a horse. An aeroplane flew overhead and several crosses stood in a field beyond. Two rows of red poppies edged the foot of the panel. The frame bore images of mounted soldiers at the sides with boots, horseshoes and numnahs at the top with the inscription in brown capital block lettering in a grey panel at the bottom. The pediment bore the date in yellow numbers on a blue ground.
