Location details:
The memorial is set within an oval plot of land (previously occupied by several properties) near to Old Road. Stocks Brow was previously called Bank Brow or Stocks.
Type
Overall type: Tree. Overall condition: Good. The inscription is legible.


Description:

An oak tree (Quercus sp.) with an accompanying plaque. The oblong black plastic plaque has an incised inscription in upright capital block lettering coloured white and is mounted on a plain oblong slate backboard. However, the plaque has been damaged and has lost the lower left corner.

History and Conservation
17th April, 1951: The Peak District National Park was designated. The memorial lies within its area.

Unknown date: The Tintwistle Conservation Area was designated (within the Peak District National Park). The memorial lies within it.

2016: The memorial was installed by Tintwistle Parish Council.

19th June, 2018: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in good condition and cared for, although the plaque has been damaged and the botttom left corner was missing.
