Location details:
In the middle of the path, just to the east of the chapel.
Type
Overall type: Cross. Overall condition: Fair. The inscription is legible and the memorial is cared for.


Description:

A sandstone wheel cross on a pedestal and two-stepped base. The 6 o'clock face of the cross has a boss at the centre and intertwined strapwork on the four limbs, in the celtic or anglo-saxon style. Lower on the shaft is the date in relief and a garland of foliage and ribbons carved in relief. The oblong battered pedestal has a stepped top to the cross shaft and bears inscriptions on all faces incised in mainly upright capital roman lettering.

History and Conservation
14th April, 1923: The memorial was unveiled by Lt Col G D Goodman CMG DSO VD, sometime officer commanding 1/6th Battn Sherwood Foresters Regt.

Unknown date: The WW2 names were added.

15th July, 2019: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Anne Branson. It was in fair condition and cared for.
