Location details:
The memorial was within the grounds of the Barlow and Cutthorpe Methodist Church, just west of the building. The church is on the northern side of Millcross La in a short length of old road bypassed by the newer Valley Road.
(The parish church signboard clearly identifies the village as Great Barlow but maps and other sources refer to it just as Barlow.)

Overall type: Well dressing.


Overall condition: Lost.


Description:

A traditional temporary well dressing tableau made from flowers and other vegetation pressed into clay held in a wooden frame and comprising a horizontal oblong panel with frieze above.

Although the main panel referred to Midland Railway heritage, the two side panels each bore a roundal depicting an infanryman in battledress and carrying sloped arms. Above each roundal was a red poppy and below were the respective dates.
