Overall condition: Fair. The inscriptions are legible and the memorial is maintained. |

Description:
A cross on a pedestal, plinth and base, made from Cocking Tor gritstone. The monolithic cross has a tall tapered square shaft and a canopied cross with short arms and a biblical scene in relief on the 6 o'clock face. The square, slightly battered, pedestal has hollowed corners and bronze plaques inset into the 6, 9 and 12 o'clock faces. The ashlar plinth is pentagonal in plan and formed of two steps but with projecting oblong blocks at the centre of the top step on three of the faces. A further eleven plaques are inset into the faces of the steps and blocks. The pentagonal base is of coursed ashlar.

History and Conservation |
2nd July, 1922: The memorial was unveiled by His Grace Victor Cavendish KG GCVO PC, 9th Duke of Devonshire and dedicated by Rev John Bourne-Nodder MA, Rector of the Church of All Saints, Ashover.
1940s? The WW2 plaques were added.
22nd January, 1971: The Ashover Conservation Area was designated and the memorial lies within it.
4th January, 2012: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition.
c2014: The WW1 Centenary plaque was added.
28th April 2016: The centenary plaque was photographed by Roy Branson.
