Here lieth the Body of SIMON BRISTOWE, Youngest Son of THOS. BRISTOWE Gent: & CICELY his Wife (who lie in ye Chancel of this Church) Also on the Left side this Tomb lieth ANN his Wife Daughter of J. S. Orme Esq The said Simon was some Time in Cromwell’s Wars & departed this Life ye 29th: of May 1681 Agd 66 And she the 5th of July 1699 Aged 80 Year’s. Also on the Right side herof lies SAMUEL Son of ye aforesaid Simon Bristow who Died the 23d. of June 1703 Aged 45 Years. Leaveing by his First Wife Bennet Daugr: of Richd. Botham Esqr: who Died June ye 9th: 1691 And was Buried at Hopsford in Warwickshire. Three Dautrs: Bennet Elizabeth & Ann. And by his last Mary Dautr: of Thos: Warde Gent: (Interrd here) who died ye 6th: of Octr. 1751. Aged 84. Two Son’s. Samuel & John. wth. two Dautrs: Mary. and Sarah. Near this Place is interr’d ye Sd. Ann Bristowe. ye Younger She died ye 17th. of April 1753 Aged 62 As in Adam all die so in Christ shall all be made alive 1st. Cor. 15.22. |

Probably 17th Century: The plaque was originally attached to a gravestone somewhere in the churchyard. Unknown date: The plaque was removed from the grave in the churchyard and resited in its current location. 19th January, 1967: The church was listed Grade I, Heritage List for England number 1039117. 9th August, 2010: The memorial was surveyed by Roy Branson and Alan Willmot. It was in fair condition and cared for. |
